Keep Coming Back

Not everyone who begins the recovery journey does so willingly. Some are not even sober when they walk into their first meeting. Some have been ordered to be there by the court. Some are trying to save their families or their jobs. Many feel they are too smart for "all this meeting stuff" and attend only in body, not in mind. They sit in the back and don't participate. But if we keep coming back, our minds will open up, and our guard will start to drop. Just like the salmon, who keeps coming back to the place where they were born to lay their eggs, we need to keep returning. Eventually, there will be someone who makes a connection with us. And then, our hearts will also become engaged. We must give it time. Keep coming back.
