Irvin David Yalom was born on June 13, 1931 in Washington, D.C. He is an emeritus
professor of psychiatry at Stanford University and the author of more than a dozen books,
both fiction and non-fiction, dealing with the topic of existential psychiatry.
When Nietzsche Wept was published in 1992. It won the Gold Award for Fiction Best
Novel awarded by the Commonwealth Club of California. Amazon reports that the
