Ron Stallworth was born on June 18, 1953 in Chicago, IL. He is a retired
police officer, who worked at the Colorado Springs Police Department. He later
worked as an investigator at the Utah Department of Public Safety. He wrote one book.
Black Klansman was published in 2014. It tells the story of Stallworth's experience
in Colorado Springs posing undercover as a Klan member for nine months. He would
handle phone conversations while a white officer would go to meetings when that
was necessary. The book was based on Stallworth's detailed casebook, in which he kept
notes at the time. The book was made into a movie directed and co-produced by
Spike Lee called BlackKkKlansman staring John David Washington (playing Stallworth)
and Adam Driver (as the white undercover cop). The movie won an Oscar for Best
Adapted Screenplay and was nominated for six Academy Awards.
