Feeling Guilty

Feeling guilty is often mentioned as a stumbling block in recovery. The person who it is hardest to forgive is often ourselves. This puppy looks guilty, but he will soon forget his transgressions. Not so for many of us. Sharing honestly with a sponsor can help us realize that guilt and failure are not links in an unbreakable chain. We need to participate in today's solutions rather than dwelling on yesterday's problems. We are not perfect, but we have good qualities, too. We need to see reality and accept both our assets and our liabilities. With humility and gratefulness, we need to be free to make progress in our recovery and free ourselves from guilt.
