Are we doing a good job of welcoming new members who come to meetings, searching for help in recovery? Do we remember how hard it was for us when we arrived, worn out with our struggles with addition? Do we reach out to them when they are standing by themselves, uncertain about what to do, confused and reluctant? Do we give out our phone numbers? Are we willing to go on a Twelve Step call, even if it is in the middle of the night? Just as we were attracted to recovery because of the supporting membership, we need to provide that supporting bond to the newcomers of today. It is up to us to provide them with a sense of belonging.
