Jackie Carter was born on June 28, 1953 in Port Chester, NY. She was an editor,
publisher, and author of children's books. She wrote at least four children's books.
One Night is illustrated by James Young and was published in 1994. Like her earlier
books, it promoted the goal to provide children of all races with books that allowed
children to see characters that looked just like them. When her baby brother wakes up
one night, the big sister helps out by playing with him while her mom makes
him a bottle. Together, they successfully get him back to sleep. It is a sweet story
about caring and helping others.
